Pride in Place

Since 2024, we’ve been gathering your ideas and feedback to understand what changes matter most to you across Rawtenstall, Waterfoot, and Crawshawbooth over the next 10 years.

We’ve secured £20 million to deliver our Pride in Place Regeneration Plan for the decade ahead. This is just the beginning, and we aim to use this funding to attract further investment into the area.

The funding includes both capital and revenue investment, phased over 10 years. Capital funding increases from year two, giving time for projects to be fully developed and refined.

The projects selected for delivery in the first four years of the Pride in Place programme are:

  • Redevelopment of the former picture house on Bacup Road
  • Public realm improvements in Waterfoot
  • Upgrades to bike tracks and footpaths
  • A creative skills mentoring programme and public art initiatives
  • A young people’s enterprise and entrepreneurship scheme
  • Stronger links between schools and local businesses
  • A new community base on the Staghills Estate
  • A new road layout scheme in Crawshawbooth
  • Learning space at the Whitaker Museum
  • Football pitch improvements at Alder Grange and Marl Pits
  • New play equipment at Edgeside Park
  • Community Grants scheme
  • Building Repairs
  • Events and activities

You can get involved in all of these initiatives, just email economicdevelopment@Rossendalebc.gov.uk

We have secured £20m for the next 10 years for Waterfoot, Crawshawbooth and Rawtenstall.

The government strongly endorsed our plan, which means we can start to deliver the things our community want.
