The Cocoon

Giving young people the opportunity to develop digital skills, promote what’s happening locally and gain hands-on experience in selling and merchandising.

Creating opportunities for young people

The Cocoon is an exciting new project being developed through Rossendale’s Pride in Place programme. It will give young people the chance to develop practical skills, gain experience and take an active role in two key areas: a digital what’s on guide and selling and merchandising.

Through hands-on involvement, young people will have the opportunity to learn by doing, build confidence and develop skills that can support them in their future education, training and employment.

A digital guide to Rossendale

Young people will be involved in creating and managing a digital what’s on guide, helping residents and visitors discover events, activities and things to do across Rossendale. They’ll gain experience in digital promotion, content creation and communication, while helping shine a light on what the borough has to offer.

Selling and merchandising

The project will also give young people hands-on experience in selling and merchandising. This could include promoting products, creating displays, customer service and learning about the practical side of running a retail operation.

Building skills for the future

By getting involved in both areas, young people will have the chance to build confidence, work as part of a team and develop skills in areas such as:

Digital skills
Communication
Customer service
Creativity and teamwork

Coming soon

The Cocoon is currently in development. More information about the project and how young people can get involved will be shared soon.
