Two brand new outdoor netball courts are now open at Marl Pits Leisure Centre, thanks to investment from the Pride in Place programme, delivered in partnership with Rossendale Borough Council.

The project has transformed the space into Rossendale’s first dedicated outdoor netball facility, complete with two fully lined courts, new posts, storage, nets, balls and bibs. The investment provides a high-quality space for local clubs, schools and residents to enjoy the sport and encourages more people to get active.

The courts will be home to weekly sessions run by Rossendale Rockets Junior Netball Club and Valley Ladies, supporting the continued growth of netball across the borough. During these booked sessions, and when the area is being used as an overflow car park, the courts won’t be available for public use.

At all other times, the courts are free for informal community play – simply bring a ball and enjoy a game with friends or family.

This project is one of many being delivered through the Pride in Place programme, investing in facilities that help create healthier, more active communities and responding directly to what local people have told us they want to see across Rossendale.
