Community groups and organisations in Staghills and Edgeside can apply for up to £500 to help deliver local community events and activities.

The funding is designed to support events that bring people together, improve wellbeing, provide activities for children and young people, reduce social isolation and help communities make the most of their local spaces.

Whether you are planning a family fun day, community celebration, activity session or event in a local park or green space, the grant can help turn your idea into reality.

Making a difference locally

The funding is already helping communities come together, with two events already supported across Staghills and Edgeside.

Party in the Park

Party in the Park at Edgeside Park brought children, young people, parents and older residents together in a safe and welcoming environment. The event included circus skills, arts, sports and games, with 182 total attendances recorded by The Zone.

The event also provided an opportunity to speak to 35 young people about their ideas for improving Edgeside Park. Children, young people and adults enjoyed activities together, creating a positive and relaxed atmosphere for the whole community.

Feedback from attendees was very positive, with residents enjoying the range of activities available. The event also provided an opportunity for adults to relax while children took part in activities, with the wider facilities at Edgeside Park also being well used.

The event brought together The White Horse Project, The Zone in Rawtenstall and the Rossendale Children and Family Wellbeing Service, creating a strong partnership that the organisers hope to continue.

Lumb Millennium Green Fun and Fitness Day

The Fun and Fitness Day at Lumb Millennium Green attracted 115 people, including children, young people, adults and older residents, alongside 10 volunteers.

The day included a range of activities, including a dog show, Splat the Rat, a human fruit machine, live music and other fun and fitness activities. The event was very well received, with positive feedback from those who attended.

The event has also helped generate further interest in Lumb Millennium Green, with organisers reporting that they would like to run something similar again and hoping to attract more volunteers.

Together, these events show how small amounts of funding can help create opportunities for people of all ages to connect, get involved and enjoy their local neighbourhood.
