Recruiting the right people based within the local area can sometimes be a barrier to business growth. We want to assist our businesses with their recruitment through Rossendale Works, a two year project in partnership with Active Lancashire Ltd (previously Lancashire Sport) and DWP at Rawtenstall Job Centre.
Rawtenstall Job Centre will actively refer appropriate people above the age of 18 who are proactive in seeking a job to our employability project; Rossendale Works. A dedicated employability officer, who is based at Rossendale Council will assess the suitability of the candidate and will match them to an appropriate 4-8 week work placement opportunity within the Valley. As a minimum, the candidate must leave the completed work placement with a reference or alternatively offered a paid position within the business.
All businesses are welcome to offer work placements providing there is the likelihood of a job offer at the end of it which pays at a minimum the living wage. If you have a placement opportunity then please call Paul Becouarn on 07732 156060. You can also email any job profiles to economicdevelopment@rossendalebc.gov.uk. The dedicated Employability Officer or Economic Development Officer will then meet with you to discuss and fully understand your placement requirements. Following this initial meeting, you will be sent matched profiles for your consideration; you will then be given the opportunity to interview candidates before offering any work placements.

This project is working in partnership with Active Lancashire Ltd who will be working with individuals to improve their general health and well-being by enrolling them onto tailored sporting initiatives. There is evidence to prove that sport-related activity provides a boost to individuals and keeps individuals in a suitable frame of mind for work.
